Comprehensive Post-Surgery Cardiac Rehabilitation

After heart surgery at Mercy, you can expect thorough follow-up care that includes:

• Education for you and your family about your recovery
• A visit from a member of your surgical team each day you are in the hospital
• A nurse to help you in the early stage of cardiac rehab, wherever you choose to have it, and to help you make the transition back to a normal routine

Individualized Cardiac Rehabilitation

At Mercy, we offer in- and outpatient rehabilitation. If you are not able to return home after discharge, we will arrange for you to go to an inpatient rehabilitation center or to a skilled nursing center that offers cardiac rehab.

Full-Service Inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation

Mercy provides inpatient cardiac rehabilitation at the Mercy Rehabilitation Center. In the rehab unit, you will find:

• An accredited facility providing 24-hour acute nursing care and rehabilitation physician supervision 7 days a week
• A multidisciplinary team that can design a care plan for your unique needs
• A focus on physical comfort and emotional support
• Rehabilitation-trained registered nurses
• Support groups, education and wellness programs
• Case management to assist families with concerns and needs
• Support in the transition to greater independence and to outpatient therapy

The inpatient rehabilitation unit is located on the second floor of Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, at 3700 Kolbe Road.
